Fingerprints...

Teachers are the number one factor in determining the successes of our students and as Penny said today, quoting Nancie Atwell, that we leave our fingerprints on their learning. What kind of fingerprints would you be able to identify if given a magnifying glass?

Also...what do you think about this idea of blogging? What do you notice that is different about this media? How could you forsee using such a forum with your students. I think it is hard to get an overall sense of it in just one week, but I do believe it is a good first taste. What do you think?

Prom Night....

Check out the link to the Podcast from NPR. There is an article and a slideshow of the students first integrated prom. After watching, take a minute to think about Ruby Bridges and the connections you are making in terms of her and what you believe.

Prom Night...

Greetings all! What a great cast of characters we have!! I am excited about this group and absolutely came home energized from all of your good energy! Thank you for taking a risk, putting yourself out there and simply diving in! With only one week it is crucial!
Tonight I want you to go to the first Literary Link posted about Prom Night in Mississippi. There are two videos to watch as well as a short article. In lieu of our thinking about Ruby Bridges and school integration, what are your thoughts about this issue? Make sure you scroll down to see Morgan Freeman. Hello and Welcome!

If this is your first time blogging then welcome! My goal in this is to ask you to do some writing on this every night. This writing is what I will refer to as a "quick write" or a "one pager". It does not have to be long, and what I am looking for is your reaction. It is also fun to see what others have written and that may inspire you to write something else.

All I am asking is that you get on here, go to the place at the bottom of this post that says "comments", click on it and leave a comment in the comment box. If you do not have a g-mail account it is often easier if you do when you are asked for your e-mail and password.

I will know you have gotten on successfully when I see your name and your comment. Just write one line about yourself that you think is interesting. For example, one summer I drove an ice cream truck on Revere Beach!!
