If this is your first time blogging then welcome! My goal in this is to ask you to do some writing on this every night. This writing is what I will refer to as a "quick write" or a "one pager". It does not have to be long, and what I am looking for is your reaction. It is also fun to see what others have written and that may inspire you to write something else.
All I am asking is that you get on here, go to the place at the bottom of this post that says "comments", click on it and leave a comment in the comment box. If you do not have a g-mail account it is often easier if you do when you are asked for your e-mail and password.
I will know you have gotten on successfully when I see your name and your comment. Just write one line about yourself that you think is interesting. For example, one summer I drove an ice cream truck on Revere Beach!!
Can't wait to meet you all in person!!

Hello UNHers! My name is Beth Haverkamp Powers. I once ate sweet and sour Boa Constrictor in Equatorial Guinea. It's a long story. See you all Monday.
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone! Let's try this again since I just lost my original comment! My name is Jen Fitzsimons. I find myself wanting to write about how I once danced on a bar in NYC during Fleet Week. Totally out of character for me, but it was a such a blast! "Performing" is outside of the comfort zone so this upcoming week/class should be a bit challenging for me, but I know that I will leave here with that same feeling as dancing on a bar - "WHAT A BLAST!" Looking forward to Monday! Have a great weekend everyone! :)
ReplyDeleteMy name is Toby Sorge. It is hard to pick one interesting thing about myself (I am very humble). One thing that sticks out is that I had alligator in New Orleans this past spring when I went to help rebuild some of the houses affected by Hurricane Katrina.
ReplyDeleteHello....my name is Niki Sakkas. I was born in Kalamata, Greece, and I am moving there at the end of this July to teach English. I hope to learn as much as possible during our week, so that I may share my experiences with my future Greek students.
ReplyDeleteHello Everyone! My name is Marie Mizerek and I have tasted wine in the home of small vineyard owners. On the piano in this quaint home is a globe that contains the remains of the woman's first husband!
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm Karen Verry. I once taught a speed reading course to high school students in Puerto Rico while living in a high rise apartment on the beach. It was a very Mary Tyler Moore time in my life.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to meeting you all.
Hi Everyone, My name is Meghan Lynch and am comming up from Cape Cod for the week. I have summer jobs taking money for parking at Cape Cod beaches and waitressing at a waterfront restaurant, so if you ever want to go on a vacation to the cape I am the one you can talk to;) I am looking forward to learning some fun and interesting ways of teaching literature through performance!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Andy and I am quite looking forward to this class. I just returned from whitewater rafting on the Penobscot, which is just outside of Millinocket, Maine.
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of interesting things I could say about myself, but as the Chinese noted in their infamous curse ("may you live in interesting times"), that's not all that good a thing. Probably the two most interesting things about me are 1) I have two biologically distinct ex-girlfriends who were diagnosed with Multiple Personality Disorder (which approximately doubles my dating history, if you count by personalities), and 2) I once clogged the governor of New Hampshire's toilet (Meghan, if you're related to Governor Lynch, please don't rat me out).
ReplyDeleteOh, and I used to date Pippi Longstocking. She dumped me for Johnny Quest. If you're really, really bored, you can hear about it here: http://www.myspace.com/edforaday
Hi! I'm Amy Clark Canty. Interesting fact: in college I had to carry a painted cinderblock around with me for an entire week. (I would get in trouble if I didn't have it on me.) I still have the cinderblock :)

ReplyDeleteIn 2007 I adopted a very ill, frightened white terrier named Millie (a puppy mill dog) who is now happy, double her body weight and no longer shakes constantly.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone, my name is April. A fun fact about me is that I have an identical twin sister. She is going to school in Houston, TX and this is the first year we have been separated. This past March we blew out our birthday candles over Skype (web chat). It made for an interesting birthday celebration! I look forward to meeting you all in the morning!
ReplyDeleteHi, my name is Liz. I spent 3 summers working out on the Isles of Shoals.
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm Pat. I have never eaten reptiles, (to my knowledge) but I had some really good peppermint stick ice cream last night! Mmmmmmmmm!! Summer!!
ReplyDeleteHello everyone!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Kate Engstrom, and for my fun fact, I will share a highlight from last week, which I spent in MN with my husband's family. While we were there, we attended the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon where I not only cheered on my sister-in-law and father-in-law, but also met and had my picture taken with the pro who won for the women: Sarah Haskins. Anyone heard of her? I hadn't, but I still thought it was pretty cool!
I have already enjoyed our time together very much, and I am excited to see what the week brings! Until next time...
Hi! I'm Shauna, and a fun fact about me is that I'm a big fan of the band Phish. Two Phish highights that come to mind are that I once got to use Mike Gordon's(bassist for Phish)toilet in his New York City apartment. Fortunately I did NOT clog it. Another is that I recently went to see them perform at Fenway. It had been a long time since my last Phish show, and it brought me back!
ReplyDeleteHello everyone. My name is Janna Jobel and a fun fact about me is that I am a certified Wilderness First Responder (basically if you're hurt in the woods I am trained to take care of you until you're out of the woods- physically, not figuratively).
